This is a Lithuanian recipe taught to me by my mum which I have tweaked to create my own version. Slow-cooked chicken marinated in fresh garlic. Served with mashed potatoes, mushroom sauce, fresh dill and sour cream.

Chicken thigh, fresh garlic, onions, black pepper, beef spices, eggs, vegetable oil.

❄️ FROM CHILLED

MICROWAVE: Heat on full power(950W) for 4-6 minutes. Leave to stand for 1 minute before serving.

OVEN: Preheat oven to 180°C (Gas Mark 5). Place on a baking tray in the middle of the oven for 20 minutes or until piping hot.

❄️ ❄️ FROM FROZEN

MICROWAVE: Heat on full power(950W) for 8-10 minutes. Leave to stand for 1 minute before serving.

OVEN: Preheat oven to 180°C (Gas Mark 5). Place on a baking tray in the middle of the oven for 30 minutes or until piping hot.

Meet Romas

Lithuanian Kitchen

I've loved cooking since I was young and it has been a source of confidence for me as well as a creative outlook. Since being in the UK, I've adapted my recipes to cater to the local taste buds, fusing Lithuanian food culture with the British palate. This makes me happy as it allows me to share my country's cuisine with the country I have grown to love.

Slightly Disappointed

The first time I had this dish it was delicious so when I ordered it again I was really looking forward to it. I was slightly disappointed when I started to eat it as it wasn't as good this time. Some of the meat was very hard and inedible on the edges of the meat and I think it must have been overcooked. Apart from that I couldn't put my finger on what was different about the meal it just wasn't as good.

This is a delicious meal of chicken, mashed potatoes with a lovely sauce. One of my favourite meals

I loved the chicken and mash but wasn’t so keen on the veg added to the dish- they didn’t reheat so well and would really have preferred just the chicken sauce and mash. It doesn’t mention the veg in the description or ingredients of the dish so that was a bit of a surprise when I opened it. But it did mean I didn’t have to prepare any other veg to go with it.

The chicken was lovely, just my favourite type of chicken dish with beautiful flavours and moist thigh meat. Couldn’t detect the mushrooms though. The mash was lovely. No pictures yet for my reviews as my carer heated my meal and brought it to me still in the original container! This was the first meal that caught my eye on the HomeCooks website and I’m very likely to order it again in future.
