Meet Som & Tam

Satay Street

We are childhood friends, born in Bangkok. Som loves eating and Tam loves cooking and when we cook together it has always been of epic proportions. Som started her cooking journey by having a chicken satay stall in Brick Lane with recipes passed down by her mum. Tam started cooking and become a chef since he was 18, and also gained experience at the university in Thailand. We want to be ambassadors for your true authentic Thai experience.

My speciality is Authentic Thai

What is your favourite dish to eat and why?

We both love Northeast style Thai food, papaya salad calls “Somtam” is our favorite ( it happens to be our name too!) also Seafood dishes can be steamed or grilled with a very spicy chili sauce. We can not live without spicy food it is our nature.

What is your favourite dish to cook and why?

Som - Satay of course, every time when I cook the dish, reminds me of love and home.

Tam - Thai noodles, when having friends around I love cooking an authentic Thai noodles soup and it always goes down well - it’s a real Thai street food offering.

What is your proudest cooking memory?

Som - Cooking at 'The Conde Nast Lunch Club & British Street Food Awards' finalists.

Tam - When I was teaching at a cooking class in a university in Thailand. I had a chance to cook for Thai Royal family members.
